Singapore, Aug 19th – 21st, 2015, Blancpain played host to more than 150 distinguished guests, in an exclusive event: Art de Vivre (Art of Living). Set along the lush greenery of Mount Pleasant Drive, guests were invited to the most elegant relics of Singapore’s past - black and white colonial bungalow, to witness the launch of Blancpain 2015 collection for the first time in South East Asia.
The pursuit of excellence, know-how, precision, passionate and meticulous manual dexterity – values that Blancpain shares with the world of gourmet food was clearly demonstrated via a live manual engraving session as well as an odyssey of gastronomy.
One of three skilled engravers from the Le Brassus manufacture was present during the cocktail to showcase the art of manual engraving, representing the noblest and purest expression of the Blancpain philosophy. The personalisation of timepieces through the age-old art of engraving is an emblematic specialty of Blancpain. The talent of Blancpain engravers shines through on noble metals (gold, platinum, cooper, brass) as they use delicate incisions to reproduce images that are manually engraved under a microscope.
The engraving session was followed by an opening speech by Ms Jenny Hui, Vice President of Blancpain South East Asia and a presentation on Blancpain Métiers d’Art by Mr Dimitri Aubert, Area Sales Manager, Asia Pacific, while the guests embarked on their gastronomical journey led by The Creative Duo from Switzerland, who have worked with numerous Michelin starred restaurants and chefs.
Chef Gabriel Serero and Chef Julien Lerouxel who make up the pair, delivered a creative and engaging dining experience using textures and flavours. Infusing the core value of innovation which is close to the heart of Blancpain, the chefs blended an itelligent fusion of revisited classics and avant garde cuisine to craft interesting creations such as the Liquid Tomato Sphere and Hot Airy Raclette Foam with dried meat powder.
The climax of the event was the unveiling of the 2015 collection. An art form rarely seen in the world of watchmaking, the Villeret Shakudō was undeniably the highlight, reflecting the expertise of Blancpain Manufacture in the practices of Métiers d’Art. Other timepieces on display included the Villeret Grande Date and from the Women collection, the Jour Nuit.
Complementing the new collection launch was an interactive dessert bar of 195°C liquid nitrogen ice cream, sparkling Swiss chocolate truffle and an assortment of pastries. Guests were lured to the irresistible spread of sweets as they explored the beautiful masterpieces.
Expressing a shared passion between craftsmanship, technology and gastronomy, Art de Vivre is a showcase to guests, inviting them to discover the impeccable beliefs which Blancpain hold in high regard - Passion, emotion, authenticity.
