22 September 2016, Singapore – On 15th September 2016, French luxury timepiece brand Bell & Ross held two events at its pop-up store in Paragon, in support of official partner Renault Sport Formula One Team prior to the Singapore Grand Prix that took place from 16th to 18th September 2016.
A Meet & Greet session featuring a special appearance by Renault Sport Formula One Team racing driver Jolyon Palmer took place in the afternoon, during which he got to interact with fans and members of the media. Palmer, who is currently on his first season as a Formula One main race driver this year, also participated in the Batak challenge - a test of reflexes, hand-eye coordination and concentration - alongside 6 finalists who attained the highest scores since the contest began on 9th September 2016. One winner walked away with the grand prize of a Bell & Ross timepiece, while the remaining 5 finalists received gift bags containing Bell & Ross merchandise for their good effort.
The Bell & Ross x Renault Sport Formula One Team pop-up store, which was open to the public from 9th to 18th September 2016 at Paragon, showcased a range of watches including models featured at international watch and jewellery industry show BaselWorld 2016. The highlight of the collection was the BRX1 RS16 - a limited edition collection of commemorative timepieces specially created by Bell & Ross as Official Watch Partner of the Renault Sport Formula One Team, exclusively for sale on the paddock at selected Grand Prix and now available too at the brand’s boutique and selected retailers. Models from the Formula One footwear range by Athletic Propulsion Labs (APL), Official Shoe Sponsor for Renault Sport Formula One Team, were also on display.
The BR-X1 RS16 watches, named after the team’s new R.S. 16 race car for the 2016 Formula One season, were envisioned to be extreme versions of the watchmaker’s iconic BR01 just as Formula One racing cars are the ultimate version of a car.
Both the BR-X1 RS16 Skeleton Chronograph and BR-X1 RS16 Skeleton Chronograph Tourbillion models were created to withstand extreme conditions, and are armored, ingenious, robust and highly technical timepieces that stand out thanks to the innovative design of its 45mm multi-material case. Crafted with materials such as grade 5 titanium and Carbone Forgé® – a high-tech composite material consisting of molded compressed carbon fibres and thermosetting resin – the BR-X1 watches are immensely light yet incredibly strong, built to withstand any impact a driver would face on the racing track. As a nod to the Renault Sport Formula One Team, both timepieces feature yellow rubber accents on the crown and rocker push buttons in the very same shade associated with the team.
Following the opening of numerous Bell & Ross boutiques throughout the world in 2015, the brand has taken an active role in the distribution and marketing of its timepieces beginning with a transferral of distributorship in Asia and the Middle East from its former appointed distributor FJ Benjamin back to the principal.
