Destination Focus

Fiji Airways recently launched twice-weekly direct flights to Singapore, representing the fastest and most direct way golfers from this region will be able to get to the South Pacific.

Golf tourism is a growing international market and Fiji is well-positioned to capture this growth, on the back of the world-class Fiji International tournament that has successfully grown the game in the region in the past few years and opened the world’s eye to Fiji. From the great weather to the amazingly warm people, Fiji offers perfect vacation destination for the avid local golfer against a backdrop of stunning lush greenery and turquoise waters.

Fiji currently has six 18-hole courses: The Pearl at Rovodrau Bay, Denarau near Nadi, the Fiji Club in Suva, Natadola Bay Club, the Nadi Airport Club, and most spectacular of all, the Laucala Island. Built by Austrian Red Bull billionaire Dietrich Mateschitz, the 3,500-acre Laucala Island is one of the most exclusive tourist experiences in the world.

Just in October. world number 23 and Ryder Cup winning team member Brandt Snedeker has continued his celebrations claiming the 2016 Fiji International at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.

Starting the final round three shots clear of the field, Snedeker showed his dominance firing rounds of 69, 65, 70, 68 to win the title by nine shots, pipping local hero Vijay Singh who finished at 2 over par.

Beyond just being a golf destination, Fiji offers so much more to make it memorable for travellers – adventure water sports, hiking and trekking in lush rainforests, private island experiences, and unforgettable views.
