In celebration of RIMOWA’s illustrious 117-year history, the German premium label takes a flight back in time through the design evolution of its luggage cases at its Mandarin Gallery store.
From the beginning of modern air travel, RIMOWA’s elegant style has been well sought after by sophisticated travellers who saw the luggage case beyond its functionality. The ‘A Journey Through Time- with RIMOWA’ showcase displays well-maintained classic pieces of luggage that have lasted through the ages, dating from the roaring 20s to the vibrant 80s.
From now till 26 April, the Mandarin Gallery and Marina Bay Sands stores will be transformed into a time capsule, encapsulating the design innovation and leadership of the RIMOWA legacy. Each case will tell a story of the brand’s design progression and craftsmanship, from the early suitcases made from wood and leather to the introduction of the first aluminium suitcase with grooves. The showcase will highlight the vintage allure juxtaposed against the modern design of the newer RIMOWA lines.
Since the launch of the first aluminium trunk in 1937, subsequently creating the iconic aluminium luggage with grooves before revolutionising the industry with the first use of polycarbonate in luggage production, RIMOWA has cemented its position and dedication to product innovation.
RIMOWA’s designs have been at the forefront of the industry’s evolution, resulting in ground-breaking innovation and a timeless legacy. The ‘A Journey Through Time with RIMOWA’ showcase is an open invitation to a nostalgic exhibition of RIMOWA’s pioneering cases.
